Look who I found!

So, do you remember this post which had this strange and rather terrifying picture?

Vogue's book of smart dressmaking

Well, I found the person those fingers belong to!  I'm not sure what to make of this picture.  I'd bet that most people (at least non-sewers) think of sewing as a "wholesome" pastime, but this cover pictures something quite different.  She is elegant, sexy and ... well, a bit wicked.  Like she might just tear a hole in you, like she did to that cover.  Then there is that strange object.  It looks like a glass bottle (filled with chalk, maybe?) with a red plastic cap and a long rod attached to it.  I can't think what it is for, and a cursory look through the book doesn't explain it.  What do you think?

Tie dye top finished!

I used Vogue 8710 (Katherine Tilton) and a beautiful indigo and pale blue tie dye knit from Christine Jonson.  It is gorgeous, but when I finished it I realized that part of what was so appealing about it is that it reminds of my favorite shirt from Uru.  So until I have pictures of the new shirt, here are some I took with my KI in Uru.  (This is actually just a shameless excuse to show off my KI pictures.)

My favorite Uru outfit

Me, standing outside my Relto.  KI pictures always show me from the back.

My tree is growing nicely.

I won a prize!

Island hopping.  Fun but scary!

Afternoon Stroll finished

I'm in a post-partum collapse, so pardon the pictures.  At the moment I couldn't care less.  I keep typing "Afternoon Strool," and that's sort of how I'm feeling about it at the moment.  Actually it's quite lovely.

The Mountains May be High...

...but the Interwebs are everywhere and the Emperor is right in the middle of them! She has her eye (s) on you.

The mountains are high and the emperor is far away

The emperor is here, Lake Easton
Well, at the moment the mountains are truly high, and the emperor is far away, i.e. Sis is in eastern Washington for the weekend.  So I've taken advantage of this absence of harassment to work on Afternoon Stroll.  I did quite a bit of sewing yesterday, and today I did quite a bit of ripping out.  It's the part of sewing I hate the most, but I did a bit of quite ugly stitching I couldn't live with.  Anyway, once I've wiped away the tears and straightened out the kink in my neck, I will go back to work.  Only buttonholes, buttons and handwork left, all of which I love doing.

Sister Pledge Make-up Day Sewing

So yesterday I replenished my stock of silk organza. Now I'm ready for my makeup day. See you later!

11:30:
I've accomplished 2 hours worth of sewing. Now I'm off to the Tacoma Art Museum for lunch. Later!

11:52:
Okay, but I expect you to be thinking about sewing the whole time you're having your delicious lunch, of which I will get none, thankyouverymuch. -- Sis

3:00:
Actually I didn't give sewing a thought while I had my very very delicious lunch, thankyouverymuch. And then I came home and sewed for another hour and a half. So there! What's left: collar and band, buttons and buttonholes, handwork. It would be more fun without being distantly supervised. Still, the mountains are high and the emperor is far away.

3:50
O the rebellion! The emperor isn't THAT far away. And she would like to see some photos of this alleged sewing progress! Hah! --Sis
